For tutors

No repeated applications, small groups that pay more, and half the usual commission.

No repeated applications. Once your profile is set up, you will never need to apply for anything. We send you a student only when the subject, the rate and the availability already match what you told us.

Small groups that pay more. If you are open to small groups, the same hour earns you considerably more. We assemble the group, fill the seats, and handle the billing for you.

Half the usual commission on private tuition. Most agencies take half of your first month. For each private assignment, we take only one week as commission, and nothing after that.

Agency figures describe the common Singapore agency model. Terms vary between agencies.

How it works

From joining to your first student.

  1. Five minutes

    We get to know you

Message us on Telegram or WhatsApp. We will send you a short questionnaire to fill in, so we understand what you teach and when you are free. Our consultant will then follow up on anything that needs clarifying, and will explore whether you are open to teaching small groups.

  2. Whenever a family shortlists you

    We send you the details

Our in-house matching algorithm checks every new family against every tutor on our books, and puts your profile forward anonymised when you fit what they are looking for. Once a family shortlists you, we will send you the subject, the level, the rate and the timings in a single message, and you may accept or decline. A match may be a single student or a small group we have assembled.

  3. Within a day

    We confirm their choice

The family makes their final selection from the tutors who accepted, and we will let you know as soon as they have decided.

  4. Within the week

    We make the introduction

Once you and the family have agreed the rate and the timings, we will make the introduction. Most first lessons happen that week.

What you earn

We take one week. Most agencies take two.

That first week covers everything we do to find you the student, and it is the only commission we take on a private assignment. Every week after that is yours.

Example: At $70 an hour, twice a week

Week 1

$140

Week 2

Across the first month that is $560 from the family, of which $420 is yours. At an agency taking half of your first month, you would keep $280.

Small groups

A full group can be worth more than double your one-to-one rate.

A small group is one lesson, taught to between two to five students together, for the same duration. Each family pays a fixed seat price, so every seat we fill adds to what you earn for that hour.

Our in-house algorithm builds the group from families already asking for your subject at the same level, and we will keep a lookout for other suitable students to join the group. We handle the billing for you, and retain 15% of the fees collected as an administrative fee for as long as you are teaching the group.

5 students

Each family pays
S$54/h
Your hour is worth
S$230/h

Every seat is a flat S$54 an hour, the same whether two classmates join or five. Each one we seat lifts your hour, and we retain 15% of the fees collected while you are teaching the group.

Figures depend on the rate agreed and the number of seats filled.

Questions

Questions tutors ask.

How do assignments reach me?

Once your profile is set up, we will approach you only when a family has already shortlisted you. You will receive the subject, the rate and the timings, and you may accept or decline. Should they go on to choose you, we will be in touch to arrange the introduction.

Am I committed to anything?

Once the agreement is signed, you and the family are each committed to a minimum of one week of lessons, since both of you set that time aside in advance. From the second week onwards, you and the family may arrange the schedule between yourselves.

What do I give up in the first week?

Since we have found you the assignment, the first week’s fees are paid to us rather than to you. It is charged once for each new family, and nothing is taken from any week thereafter.

When am I paid?

From the second week onwards, the family will pay you directly, on whatever schedule the two of you agree.

What if a student stops after the first week?

You would not be paid for that engagement, since the first week is our commission. This policy is designed to encourage tutors to put their best foot forward and to commit to the assignments they take on.

Can I reschedule a lesson?

During the first week, either side may reschedule through us, provided at least 48 hours of notice is given. We will, of course, be flexible in exceptional circumstances, such as an illness supported by a medical certificate. From the second week onwards, you and the family may reschedule directly. For a group class, the same 48 hours of notice applies throughout, and we will arrange a new time with the whole group.

48 hours or more
The lesson is moved, and nothing is charged for moving it.
Less than 48 hours
The family is refunded in full and the fee is charged to you.
What if I miss a lesson without notice?

Unfortunately, since the family has set aside that time and the lesson was not rescheduled at least 48 hours beforehand, the family will be refunded in full and the fee will be charged to you.

What if I need to end a group class?

Please provide us with two weeks of notice before ending any group class, so that we may offer each family another group, private one-to-one tuition, or a break.

Tell us what you teach.

Message us on Telegram or WhatsApp, and we will take it from there. Give us your subjects, your rates and your free hours once and we will only approach you about students who look like a match. You will never apply for another assignment.
